Most of us have been through some traumas in our lives.

  • Maybe it was a rough upbringing.
  • Maybe it was a getting out of a terrible relationship.
  • Maybe it was a sudden, terrifying event.
  • Maybe you’re not even sure what it was, but you’ve got anxiety chipping away at you, making your life smaller.

This is not how you thought life would feel.

This doesn’t seem to be how other people feel, looking confident and happy as they sail through their days. But so far, nothing has helped, Or maybe you haven’t tried the right thing.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). Shapiro’s (2001) Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution.

Working with me

  • You tell me about what’s going on for you, and what symptoms you want to change.
  • We work on some self-soothing strategies, until you can use them at will.
  • Then, through a carefully-guided, non-intrusive process, we work through the issues bothering you…and watch their power over you diminish with each passing week.
  • As you build resilience, distress fades, and you feel better in your body and mind.
  • You can finally understand and let go of the pain.

This system take people directly to healing that takes years in traditional talk therapy.
